I have a long term project I'm starting from an old untouched AMT kit I got for free (for obvious reasons). I want to build a custom with newer wheels & tires but the chassis has all of the exhaust and suspension components already molded in and that just won't work. Any suggestions on a replacement chassis? I thought about cutting out the components but it looks daunting. Keep in mind the "Newbie" status. Thanks in advance.

If they have separate (non molded exhausts, maybe cut to fit the '56 or '57 Ford chassis. In the old days we used various methods (from woodburning tool to scoring the lines over and over until they broke thru). Now, I assume the electric Dremel moto tool is popular and not as expensive as it was long ago. One can use a razor saw to cut also and there are ways I don't know of too. For tips these e-clubs have tutorials also and there's You Tube for hobby tips. Good luck!

Thanks, I have done it on my other project to remove the stock floorpan, and the exhaust isn't the biggest concern. The suspension is. I might try it though, what the heck. If I ruin it I will have to fab one anyway. What's life without a little risk?
