I know I have not been too active on the board lately. This is due to a number of factors such as work, vacations, kids moving out on their own, etc. The biggest reason is the time of year, aka, Summer. I would take a guess and say that I am not the only one who this happens to. Well, it is starting to cool off, I have to turn my headlights on when I drive to work and I noticed it was getting pretty dark at 7:30PM. One more thing I've noticed. I am getting the "bug". The "modeling bug" that is . It seems that during the Summer my hobby room gets pretty messy. I may get models or supplies and just kind of dump them in my room. I may have to make some misc. repair, un-knot my wife's necklace, etc. and the tools may not get put away. Anyhow, I normally do a complete clean up of my hobby room around this time of year and the itch is getting stronger by the day. I'm thinking it is going to happen in the next week or two. Once done, I already have a list of projects I am going to work on. Mostly they are projects I have started and want to finish. So let me ask you, anyone else out there like me?

yep....I am usually the same, except I retired at the end of June. So this summer is different. I have been finishing models that have sat around, spray painting bodies and parts to assemble this winter (I paint outside and can't paint in the cold)and getting models down off of the shelf to clean.

During the summer I usually build at the lake place on weekends, but this year I had to work on Sat. so my build time was reduced. However now I have my Saturdays free again. I have 4 projects going on now, plus a slew of old ones I haven't finished yet. Getting ready for a show, and sale in Oct, hope to sell off a few of my built up buildings, but still adding more to the collection. The shop look like a bomb hit it, so I have a weeks worth of clean up to do, before we back to it again.

I have started cleaning the hobby room. Just putting the big items away. I have a lot of time to take off from work, (not allowed to sell it back anymore), and I just may burn a day or two this week. I could use a day just to finish cleaning up the hobby room. I am happy that the model building bug is coming back to me!

Summer is a time to enjoy the world, Nature, friends and family. Also, getting in shape is vital for us as we get older. Finally, getting away from a hobby can help recharge the pleasure of building, creating. Now the days get shorter and it's time for plastic once again. Glad you're back!

For me summer means FISHING . The shorter day's and lack of light just makes me want to go underground. A.K.A (my basement/work shop). The hobby come's alive. Starting to work on projects for the NNL east in April. Also have a Hobbytown show in October. Too many projects, too little time, but I'll soldier on. Let the fun begin !!!!!

The hobby room is about 2/3 of the way done. Just a little more putting things away. Just a little more dusting. Just a little more floor cleaning and bench cleaning and it will be finished. I will take a few pictures and update my "man cave" posting in the Hobby Room section. And then let the plastic fly!!!!

Yeah, I'm the same way. Living in North Dakota where it snows 1/2 the year, the summer months are precious for family etc. My schedule is 45 hour/week of day job, then 15+ hours custom airbrush painting (I hit a couple 80 and 90 our weeks this summer total), President of our IPMS club chapter which just completed it's fall contest return, and I'm planning/organizing an ABC course for next year with the club and hobby shop. Full time family and well.... yeah there's minimal time there for modeling. However, I'm caught up with painting commissions so I have a model of The Invisible Man on the bench that I started 2 years ago. I also have a few personal art pieces I want to do. The kid I've been mentoring at church also got confirmed this weekend. I have too many irons in the fire. LOL

Thanx to folks like Mike ("Be like Mike!") the hobby is in good hands. If only more of us had the dedication for making the time. Dunno how go-getters do it all, but thanx for helping hold the model world and clubs like this together!
