Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I've been here....took a new job in April that has left me with little time to build, but hopefully it'll work itself out soon, and I'll be able to participate more often. I was finally able to finish a model today! It's built curbside, but it's the first one I've finished in 6 months. This is a car that ran in the Limited Late Model class back in the 80s at Athens (GA) and Hartwell Speedways. Phil Peppers was the driver, the car was built by S&R Race Cars, and painted by my cousin. I was in the sign business at the time, so I was the sign painter. The model is a Jackie Sims (Gator) body on a modified AMT Nascar chassis....not correct, I know, but perfect for a quick shelf model. This was actually an experiment in decal making.....all the decals, including the tire lettering, was printed on an inkjet printer on CLEAR decal paper. It turned out ok, I guess...not as good as Alps printed decals, but it looks ok from 5 feet away.

Jeez, the cars do look odd these days. I guess "purpose built" rather than looks rules the day. Really a nice job and decals look fine from here. What is the weakness in printing on an inkjet?

Thanks, Y'all! The problem with inkjet decals is in order to show up on dark colors, decals need a white undercoat, and an inkjet printer will not print white. I was just experimenting to see if I could find a way around that.

I think we are, for the most part, our worst critic. I think she looks good Tommy. I see nothing wrong with the decals. Someday I really would like to see your builds in person.

I like it! The decal work looks very good to me, I wish I was brave enough to try it.

Thanks y'all!! John, if you saw them in person you would be disappointed! Lol! The camera is my best friend! Robert...Go for it!! The worst you can do is mess up a sheet of decal paper. I may try to put together a little tutorial on how I did this one, along with the things I learned NOT to do.
