I have been painting some two tone car bodies to put away for later building this winter. I ran out of Tamiya tape to mask them so I tried some 20 year old auto body (real car) pin striping tape that was laying around.
It works great! It seals down really well to prevent bleed under, is flexible and is super thin so there is not a built up paint ridge along the edge. I used it to mask the edges and regular masking tape taped to the pin striping tape to cover the big areas. If you pull it off within a few days, it doesn't lift the old paint under it.
I think it works as well or better than the expensive tape I have ordered from the hobby shop.
