Okay guys it's a new year and I finally talked myself into going to the shop. Things were piling up so had to clean a place for this one. This is just the basics of it, The parts are in the paint booth now, for the primer coat. here are a couple of mockup shots though. With 1/64th cars. 1/87th cars. The main building took the longest to do. The roof didn't want seal right, so I had to do some work on the corners of the building to get them looking good. This will be a slow build as I have a ton of cars to do yet for it. I know I have a 58 somewhere, so now I have to go hunt it down.

Okay construction report. The walls are up, along with the windows. Side awning is installed, and lighting is being addressed now. I made a new counter for it, and booths have to be constructed yet. I was not impressed with the cardboard ones supplied. I will get pics later, as I have been at this sucker since 11:30 PM last night. Now time for a nap.

I had not heard of 1/64th (Hot Wheels?), but the 1/87th (as HO train scale) has a lot of cars and I'm envious of all the ones WE can't get in 1/25. I hope you have fun finishing what will be a museum quality display, thanx!

Here is the progress. Didn't like the counter that came with it or the booths, so I made my own. The ones on the right are the kit pieces. Booth items were made from Popsicle sticks. Then I added some lighting for the interior. And finally a color shot. Also adding some roof details like air vents, and the such.

Got the floor cut and installed, along with the new counter. Here you can see the wall inserts I made. Adding a parking area, roof details, and a door to the back of the building. Artistic license with this. Here are the light poles for under the saucer roof. On the left is the kit part. On the right is the same with a Krysal Jewel added to look like a flood light. More coming soon.

Got some more done on the cars. I changed the wheels on the 58. Stock on the blue new on the white. Got Curt's car painted, now have to do some trim work. Also did some subtle mods to this 40 Ford. It got the wheels from the 58, and added lake pipes. Stock one on the right. And finally the 55 of Falfa's. Made a roll bar from phone wire. Think I got the look I want for it.

Well I got paint on both cars. However there were some issues with both. Orange peel on the 55, and I goofed up the pinstripes on the 58. So they both got the stripper treatment. Now to start over with fresh paint. On the other hand the chop on the 32 is done, jsut needs to be smoothed out a bit, and then have to build a SBC for it.

Hey Mercman, I'm new to this site and just want to say WOW , That looks incredible! Starting to get some Bill Haley and the Comets running through my head. The detail is just mind blowing. Super kool build. Thanks for sharing it. Where was I in 62, 3 years away from coming into this world, but still a American Graffiti fan.

You accurately portray "the way it was." Towns large and small all over the U.S. had something like this. Thank you SO much for a swim in the river of time past. Refreshing and beautiful.
