AMT 1965 Galaxie 500XL reissue

I got the latest reissue of this classic Galaxie by Round 2. I was worried that after the previous "donk" version that the tooling would have been altered in some way for the worse. Glad to say, the kit looks nice! Everything is individually bagged, all the parts are molded cleanly with non-existent flash and few seam lines. The chrome is nice and shiny with no bits or specks in it and the decal sheet is printed cleanly.
The tires are the same nicely printed Firestone Deluxe Champions that AMT had in their recent Custom and Competition tire set with a pair of pie crust slicks printed with Racemaster Dragster lettering. The decals are also nicely bagged and printed and include the markings for the Fred Lorenzen Nascar version as shown on the box art. Round 2 has knocked the reissue quality out of the ball park, I don't think this kit was this nice back in 65!

Round 2 is doing a good job on the reissues! Glad to see this is a good one, too.

Glad to hear another old fave is back. "Fearless Fred" was quite a competitor and the kit and its possibilities are many, junker, showroom new, fire/police car, demo derby, etc. Here's hoping somebody builds one and shows fotos!

I can't wait to get my hands on this one too. I built one of these in green about 20 years or so ago. Messed up the paint a bit and never finished it. Now would be a great time to find the parts and finish it off. I hope they follow this up with the '66. I always liked Ford's styling from the vertical headlight era.

That's the hard part, build the kit or part it out? I've got plans to stick the undercarriage and bits from this one under an AMT 66 Galaxie to replicate the 3rd car I ever owned. Got quite a few in front of that project though! My brother had this when I was a kid, I was forbidden to touch it under threat of my very life and existence. ;p
