Yes, I am back building again! At least for now. Had started on a couple of HO scale fire trucks, but needed a break. This little Ferrari just spoke to me. Started on Thursday, with clean up, research, etc. Glued the nose on, been working on filling the seams in. Layed down the first coat of primer yesterday. Amazing the difference that makes!

Also got the interior bucket and dash painted. Seats will be blue, and am thinking of adding seat belts, at least to driver's seat. Noticed in pictures of the real deal that the interior door panels are not solid, so I made a template and cut the relief out. Figure to just paint the inside of the doors semi gloss black to help hide the fact there is not support structure to go with the doors. And had decided to paint the wheels. Stripped chrome off, then after washing I realized that the non acetone polish remover had severely softened the plastic! I had also mushed one of the outer lips before I realized they were soft. Nothing like screwing up parts from a long out of production kit!!! Gonna go thru my spares to see what I can find in the way of Borrani type wire wheels. Am also looking at some different aftermarket and photo etch sets. Any tips or suggestions let me know!

Very cute! I can't tell much what scale it is, but the cars ran back in the '60s. Thanx for one I haven't seen since the '60s!

Thanks! it is 1/24 scale. Was originally a slot car body, then a very crude chassis plate and interior bucket was added to make it a curbside. I have seen an article where someone took the time to open the engine compartment, add the details, and an engine. Pretty neat, but I am not going to go that far with this one.

Hi Sully! Good to see you back at the bench! Cool little Ferrari you are building. Sorry to hear about those wheels. That had to suck. Hope you find some good replacements. Keep on posting and keeping us updated on this.

That looks like a fun project. I like the shape of the older Ferraris.

Nice Ferrari, I like what you've done with the interior. Can't wait to see more, don't stop now. Good luck on the wheels.

Thanks yall! Was having a lot of fun with this one. Even found a set of photo etch Borranis from Herb Deeks. Then I managed to totall the Ferrari last night. Got all the body work done and the final coat of primer on it. Ended up leaving the body too close to a light and severely distorted the decklid area. So now it is on hold until I source another body.

Oh man Sully, that really sucks! What a bummer. Are you going to try to find another body or just permanently shelf it?

John, I definitely want another one. Was really excited about this one, very disappointed I can't finish it right now. Would really like to find another kit as I had some other ideas I wanted to try. Would give them a try if I already had the spare parts to use in the event my ideas did not work out.

Well, the Ferrari is almost back on track! A buddy posted a want ad on a forum he belongs to for a kit he wanted, and put a mention of my Ferrari. Someone contacted him and had both kits! Will have that one in a couple of weeks. And, I scored an unbuilt off ebay this weekend!
