Ever since I saw this pic, I wanted to do one. Here I have the sides glued to the floor. Also you'll see the demensiuons for it. Notice the bracing for the walls. Here it is with all the walls and doors. The walk-in door is a Tichy part#8049, and the window is by them also, #8089. The overhead door is clapboard siding that I filed smooth. Finally the first fitting of the roof. All in all close to whats shown. Now have to make the signs, and add some outside detail. Anyone know what is written in the middle between Studios, and Monsters sign?

The early days were pretty humble. All the later famous businesses allied to rodding began small and grew with fame. Thanx for recreating something I never saw before. Good stuff!!!!

Excellent project. It is hard to believe it is 1/87. I look forward to seeing more.

Excellent project. It is hard to believe it is 1/87. I look forward to seeing more. Robert as you can see from the dimensions it is small. I kindof guessed on them using one of my 1/87th cars for reference. Would be easy to do in 1/25th scale also. I plan also on doing another in 1/64th, so I can display my Roth Hot Wheels cars with it. I figured out what the line is between the signs. I believe it says- hand painted.

You Sir, are a talented man! As always, a very cool project. Adding to what you think the sign says, could it say "headquarters for hand painted"?

Found a color pic of the 55, I think I'll use HOK Tangerine on it.

I got to see him at work, doing custom shirts years ago at an outdoor car show. I would have loved to thank him for his contribution to customizing, but he was fenced off a good distance away. Ah well, we still have the memories, thanx!

I talked to him on the phone once. I located a old army buddy of his that lived in ND. He sent me one of his t-shirt catalogs.

Finally got back to this one. Here's a shot of the office. My own design. Mock up of the sign. And finally the building. Still have to paint the car, and re-radius the rear wheels ells a bit more.

This is so awesome! What a great concept, and tribute. I wonder what the time frame is for that first picture....and I also wonder if that big box crate leaning against the sign couldve been part of a vacuum form for one of the bubble tops....hhmmmm PS.....pic swiped for my desktop pic for a while PSS.....that 55 is one of the baddest 55s ever!!!
