Well, here it goes. I figured rather than a bunch of threads for each of my old racecar builds I would just lump them all here in the Race Shop.
I will start off with some old pics I took of them and as I get time I will add some detail shots later. I am a roundy round kinda guy, so the majority are geared to turning left (and usually steering right). I think I may add some work in prog teasers here too, and as I get back to working on them I will create wip threads then. Hopefully everyone can smell the Trick racing gas, and feel the lope of a huge circle track solid lifter cam.....
The California Upright Super Modified circ. 1974
This started out as the Edmunds Modified, but I modified the body, the cage, added the magnesium wide five rims and slicks, and a modified sprint car wing.
IMCA Modified circ 1995. This was a car that I actually built and drove at my local dirt track. The model started out as a chevelle frame, a modified nascar cage, scratch built body and hand painted stripes and lettering.
Nascar Limited Sportsman circ. 1972 The real 1:1 car of this model is what started it all for me. I was 6 years old when my father crewed and did the custom paint on this very car. Just like the real thing, this started out as an old Revell 55 chevy frame and the Monogram 55 body. The cage was built from sprue, and the wing is again a modified sprint car wing. I actually started this model when I was about 13 years old, and after discovering some old super 8 movies of the car 30 years later, I finally had enough reference to finish the build and the paint. Colors are custom mixed and lettering is all done by hand (back when I wasnt so shakey)
Nascar Limited Sportsman circ. 1970 These are works in progress and are along the same vein as the above racecar. They all raced together at the same track when I was a little kid. I will go into more detail on the cars and the builds later....
