Sometimes I just wonder why I even try to build models.....sigh. I am currently working on the Rubicon Jeep. A nice, simple little kit. Yeah, a nice, simple little kit possessed by the devil himself. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is going right. I was going to basically copy the model done by Marcos Cruz. It was a review model for Scale Auto and I saw it on MCM. I liked the color combos. I bought the paint he used, Testors One Coat Fiery Orange. It is nice paint but by the time I got even coverage it was much darker than I wanted. This is kind of throwing off my light gray interior. The light gray was supposed to be a satin finish but looked to glossy to me. I shot some satin clear and the paint wrinkled. I flocked the interior with a dark gray and it looks worse than a dog with mange. The kit uses the darn metal axels that never fit in the wheel holes. I had to pound them in with a small hammer. I needed the rear wheels to be a little more pushed on to the axels and broke both rear wheels in the process. I finally had to walk away. I'm in no hurry to get back to it. I will share the final product but I am not even taking pictures of the WIP. I would be too embarrassed to post them.

The best laid plans of mice and men...as they say, often go awry. Thanx to the techniques we have now, even glue bombs seem to be salvageable. You can, walk away and later use parts as donors for other models, or strip the paint and begin anew. Or, put the pieces in a box and put the box in a dark corner far away. Ya picks your favorite. It's just refreshing to know the best builders have their bad outings just like everyone else.

Breathe, dude. It happens to all of us. Well at least it happens to me. As long as you have t thrown it against the wall, it might still be salvageable. Use a drill to make the axle holes bigger. Strip the paint and lay that orange over a white primer base. Testors one coat will have a different color depending on your base. They do t tell you that up front. Strip the interior and redo it gray. I know the jeep you're talking about. I've seen your builds and I know you can pull it off. Maybe not now. So tackle a different build, and this beast, this demon will be here waiting for you another time.

Thanks for the responses, harron68 and IceMan555. I appreciate them. I was, more than anyting, venting out of frustration. My number one weakness when it comes to building models is patience. Like so many modelers, I don't have a lot of free time. I tend to try to get too much done in too little time.
I will start a new thread for the Jeep and post some pictures there.

Put it back in the box and start another, then go back to it. Seems to work for me....LOL
