Hey guys, sorry for my lack of participation lately. My wife and I repainted our living room. Even though our house is small there was a ton of masking that I did. We have oak trim and I did not want to chance getting paint on it. The other thing, and I need to share it on TMM, is I am building a ship model that will be a surprise birthday present for a coworker at the VA. She served on the USS Mason and I am converting a Trumpeter USS Lassen into the Mason. I am currently close to 200 hours of build time on this thing! That does not account for research time, cleaning out the airbrush time, etc. This is my first ship model so it is probably taking me longer to build than someone who has a few ships under their belt. Lastly, I don’t recall this being like this before, but I keep getting logged out of here. I pop in daily but I don’t always log in.
It is nice to finally have some activity around here. Thanks for being here!

I understand totally John. My wife and I have been remodeling ever since we bought this house. Now that overtime at the shop has been picking back up...finally! I am really limited working at the bench for now. Would like to see the Mason build going on, bet its nice. I have a few ship kits but don't know when I'll ever start them. As for getting logged off, may be your fotki account is doing it? Dont know, just throwing that out there. I like that its waking up around here a bit too! Hopefully we can keep it going!

Yeah, Tim, I should be working a little overtime this entire week. OT is not normal at this job and I'm good with that. I will try to start a thread on the USS Mason. If I may toot my own horn, I would have to say it is looking pretty good considering it is my first ship model. I have played with a couple others but this is as deep as I have ever been in a ship build.

I also struggle to find time as I run my own business and am raising 3 boys (although 2 of them are big enough and old enough to take care of themselves). By the time I'm done for the day I fall asleep behind the TV. John I'd love to see some pic's of the ship you are building.

Add on about an hour travel each day and it really eats into model building time. My kids are grown and on their own so I don’t have that anymore. I will start a thread on the ship. I am in panic mode because I have about a month to get it finished and I don’t see that happening.

I am sooooooo close to having the ship model finished! As I type this it is Monday the 22nd at 6:15PM. Her birthday is Wednesday. I may burn a day tomorrow to finish it up. It is possible if everything goes well tonight and tomorrow.
Once I have it finished I will get back to this board on a more regular basis.

Just a little update on what is going on with me. Overall, things have slowed down for me. The biggest thing is that I have finished the ship model and presented it to my coworker. If any of you are on Facebook you can see my posts there. I now owe my wife some time and attention. She has been more than understanding and accommodating while I worked on the ship. She even helped by make custom “USS Mason DDG-87” scripts for the base using her Cricut. So, I have a few small projects to work on now but I will be a little more active on here.
