New to the forum and modeling

Hi guys. It's great to meet some like-minded individuals. I'm 62 years old and I just finished my 1st kit. Being an old car guy with a bad back, I can't work on the real thing anymore and my lovely wife and daughter bought me the same Corvette kit up top. I call that kismet. I finished mine in white with a tan and white interior. Needless to say, I'm hooked and already into my 2nd kit, a '70 Chevelle SS resto mod, 2 + 2 with 20" rims, a carbon fiber hood and a 572 crate motor. The scale aftermarket is SICK!! I'm already thinking about getting a 3D printer. I plan to share pictures and LEARN A LOT!

Welcome to TMM! We are glad to have you! Facebook has really put a hurting on most of the smaller forums like this one. However, I truly believe that you get a lot more actual interaction on forums like TMM than you do on Facebook.

We have some great members here so feel free to ask as many questions as you like. It sounds like you are jumping right into the hobby. Your Corvette turned out nicely. I am looking forward to seeing your progress on your next model!

Thanks guys! I keep finding more stuff, there's a whole aftermarket for scale models, and YouTube is AWESOME for learning stuff. I am already into my 2nd one. It's a 70 Chevelle SS Resto Mod. I found resin parts to make it look really contemporary. I have racing seats, so I am making it a 2+2 and a GM 572 with a cross ram. I found a guy that makes 20" staggered wheels with little 315 Michelin Pilots for the rear. I even made the hood carbon fiber, there's a great YouTube video that shows how to make a pattern and apply it. This is great!!! I order stuff everyday. My poor wife said, "what have I started now" lol.

WHOA !!!!!!! For your first kit,that Corvette is amazing. Now the Chevelle, the paint,engine and carbon fiber hood,...."KABOOM" you just blew my mind. With talent like that ya' gotta build some more. Fantastic !!

Hey SVT8, that is great! I love the enthusiasm! There is a ton of aftermarket stuff out there and it looks like you are finding it...lol. Great job on the CF hood. There are a lot of compound curves on it and it looks like you managed to get the decal to lay down perfectly...well done!

I'm with ratrod and Nacho on this one...the Chevelle looks awesome so far! As long as your eyesight stays good the aftermarket parts will really pay off. Rock on!
