41 plymouth...Peking to Paris build

First group build I'm gonna try since...hmmm...The Chevy hundred year anniversary build on here many years back. I failed big time! But I did get it done A few years later...lol, like maybe 8! It's the 55 Vette up there^ Anyway, this is a build on another site. Did some research on this P2P rally and it looks like a really cool adventure. Gonna try this 41. I think my wife and I could keep it running for around 8k miles! I'll try to keep it posted here too.


This where I started a while back. Puttied around the front insert and in the process of replacing the little ribs with stretched sprue. I'll get better pics as I go.

Went ahead and threw those tires under it to see what it somewhat may look like.

Not sure but I may go with them for now

This is kind of the direction I'm going at the moment. Gonna go with some thinner tires for the spares and fashion some kind of rack for the roof. Got the steelies out of a 57 Ford kit. Did the letters on the tires with a sharpie paint pen a while back, was experimenting so figured why not use them now? Need to set the rear up a bit for the trip.



Trying a few more new things on this. Panel line wash and assembling a little before paint. See how it goes.

Did some research and decided to cut he trunk open. First time doing that for me. Took the scriber to it.


This is what I ended up with

Then I started figuring out straps on the hood. Painted dull and drilled holes

Made a little loop with some wire I have on hand


More I worked with it, didn't like it, Ill get back to it later.
The trunk lid I cut out I used for a tarp. Took the same wire and wrapped it around. Added some kitchen foil and painted flat black.






Think it kind of looks like a tarp. Thanx for lookin guys!

Gonna add a little more to this.Got the engine wired the best I could and the body almost ready for paint.

Got this milliput stuff to try to mold some sleeping bags



They kind of look like bags. May try to make them a little smaller, just experimenting at the moment

Put a lip around the trunk with some evergreen strips

Went ahead and sprayed semi gloss on the tarp and filled those holes on the hood, didn't really like that.

Figured out something for the trunk floor, gonna throw some flock on it later

here it is with the bags and a tire. kind of why I'm thinking about making the bags a bit smaller.

Anyway, this is kind of the direction I'm looking at. Thanks for looking.

Hey all! Been since June but I did get this done. Flocked the trunk, fixed the bumper bracket. Roughed the dash. then got all of the stuff to go in for the trip
