I really like Ferraris, so I was looking forward to building this kit. First off, upon visual inspection of the contents, everything looked good except for the chrome, which had contamination. The parts are all molded in white save for the glass. Now, this kit was mastered by Revell or Germany, molded in Poland, printed and packaged in China. Apparently, the translation was also done in China, because the decal placements in the instruction sheet was all out of whack.
I had lots of troubles during the build process. The chassis plate was warped, but straightened out mostly after the interior was glued to it. The engine/transaxle assembly is simple, but looks decent after installation. The side windows do not fit right, so I cut the door glass off and only installed the quarter windows. The windshield was a nightmare. It doesnt fit the curvature of the body, large gaps are noticable. All of the mesh vents and whatnot are decals, and do not look realistic. However if you do not use them you can see into the body through the holes. Nothing in this kit fit like it should, it took long clamping sessions to get the body mated to the chassis.
The body itself had some mold lines in annoying places, but sanded off easy. The rims were the chrome parts that were contaminated. I had to strip them and paint them. The wheel/brake rotor assemblies are the best looking part of the car after careful painting.
I really hope that I just got a bad one, and that the rest of them are not so crappy. I almost felt like my $11 was wasted, and I would not have finished it if I hadnt spent so much painting the body. At the same time, I bought Revell's Ferrari Super America kit, I'm gonna start that one now and I hope its much better. I'll get some pics up tommorrow.
