Just about done. I started with an older issue of the AMT 66 Mustang (the box said made in USA, old, huh?) that someone had started to mate the 67 chassis with. After filling the sinkholes and scratches left behind from whomever trying cut the trunk out, I painted it Tamiya Light Gunmetal metallic. The interior is a custom mixed tu-tone dark blue with flocking. The engine was detailed with plug wires, throttle linkage, and the Holley carb from the AMT 66 Fairlane. The battery was painted to resemble an Interstate brand battery. I got the Weld wheels from a 57 corvette street machine kit.

The 67 chassis fits nicely, and the wheelbase seems to be the same. It took a lot of trimming and filing, even after the previous owner had it roughed in pretty good.

The conversion was started when I bought it. If I remember the AMT 66 correctly, it had a crude engine compartment with a short radiator wall, maybe even those round tubelike structures as part of that wall, where the screws were to go originally. Cant say for sure, that part was cut out, and the 67 engine compartment was cut to fit (more or less) So I would have to say no, because the engine compartment area is all that needs careful cutting and test fitting. The chassis has the same demensions (width, length, and even wheelbase) The old bumper attachment points have to be sawed off also. Its a little easier than adapting a Revell 65 Chevelle Z16 chassis to an AMT 65 El Camino. (Slightly less cutting)
