My family doesn't understand how I can watch the Barrett Jackson Auction for hours at a time. They sure have some beauties run across that stage. We'll have to check it out during the "24"

Hey Bobby I'm definitely in. I'm not sure about the kit yet. Is there any limitations as far as aftermarket materials are concerned? I was thinking of doing a car from the reissued AMT Modified Stocker series but I always hate the wheels and tires on those kits. Plus I'd probably wanna use aftermarket decals. Just because I don't really like to build phantom race cars. But I'll let you know my kit choice later in the week. It's kinda funny I guess, when my wife and I first met and I'd tell her I was going out with my friends and wouldn't be home until the next day I'd always come home smelling like cigarettes and booze. Fast forward 5 years and 2 kids later, now I'm going to be out all night with my friends and I'm going to come home the next day with paint on my fingers, smelling like Red bull and lacquer thinner. Who woulda thunk it? -Will

Anything is a go. Do whatever body mods you like, as well as aftermarket materials, decals, scratchbuilding, etc. ..... just try to get it finished in the 24 hours.
We can also provide you with a signed excuse for your wife. We have to do this for Nacho Z also because he never came home with paint on his hands (if you know what I mean).

Glad you are in Will. We can talk some at the 3 Rivers Show. I will be there along with Gary and other members of the club. Like I said I dont have the biggest place but we can make room for you. I have 2 dehydrators and a paint booth. It a good, fun time of model building.

The 24 hour build sounds like a great idea. I would love to participate but would only be able if I can get the family out of the house. I'll keep this in mind and see what I can do.

That sounds like a real blast yall. Sorry I won't be able to join in on the festivities, but have got prior engagements that weekend. Read - the 17th is my wife's birthday. Maybe another time.

Dave No no no! You have got to be creative here. How about, "Honey, for your birthday I'm not going out at all. As a matter of fact, I'd like to stay up all night and listen to you, talk with you, and maybe just play movie after movie." That should work. P.S. I'll look forward to buying out your model collection the next day.

OK guys I'm a new member here at Mad Modeler what type of rules are there for the 24 hr. build ? Does it have to be a 4 wheeled build or car bikes be built to ? And are there any little nitpicky rules I should know about before I jump in this Scott

Scott and halfpint:
When we had the first 24 hr build, the rules were it had to be a Lemans car. We lightened up a little of this requirement the 2nd year just to get all moderers building. As this is no contest, and I would just like to see all the modelers in the world building at the same time, all I ask is that it be an unstarted kit, capable of being finished (with a paintjob Nacho Z) in 24 hours.
Getting some other modeling friends together to build with you is the best of times, but if you would like to join in solo, it's all fine and dandy.
I'll try to start a list of builders and their respective groups together next week so we can kick start the planning for this build.
93 Days and counting!

Yes we had to add the Brolin Rule for all 24 HR Builds. Nacho z can fill you in on the Brolin Rule since it is named after him.

You guys are killing me . Here's the deal. The idea is to get a model COMPLETED in 24 hours. My first 24 hour build was a white UT model. I skipped the white paint and just cleaned up the mold lines, polished the body and started the decals. I did the same thing the 2nd year. The rest, as they say, is history ;D. This year I will paint the body but do a less complicated kit. I really do want to complete a model in 24 hours. Now where is that 33 piece snap-tite kit.... ;D

Ok I'm new to this board and the guys in my club are interested in joining the 24 hr. build .
I can set up a photobucket account for this and do folders for each guy in it is that good enough for this build ??
And what do we need to do ahead of time for the build or can we just take starting pictures the day of the build ??
I copied the rule just up the board a little for them to see any thing else I/we need to know .

You can just put all the pics in one album. Make sure you get Gary a link to the Photobucket so he can post it on his Fotki site. Just take a pic of the builder and the model they are building beore they start. Anything goes on the build. No sanding on the body or other parts prior to the 24HR Build. I believe you can glue up to 4 parts on the body just so the glue has time to gas out. I'm sure Gary will fill you in more when he reads this post.
How many are going to join in Scott?
It is a blast. I will have 3 at my house and Gary has 5 at his.
