Weather and roads didn't look good this morning so I played hookie from work. So I spent about 5 to 6 hours on the VW, and also cleaned up my modeling area. I'm happy to report that everything is now hinged. Here's the front trunk hinge......... and here's the rear hatch hinge.I also got 1 of the door frames finished.Meeting night tonight so no more VW fun today. I'll bring it to the meeting guys.

Update: Maintained my 30 to 40 hours this past week on the bug. All the suspension has been tweaked to fit and I've got the engine surround and cover finished. The wheels have finally been chosen. These are Tamiya S2000 special eddition wheels. They will be painted black or a real dark grey. Brakes have been upgraded to Ferrari F50 units.I'm thinking of having this engine cover come open as the rear hatch opens. No photos yet, but glass supports have been constructed to make all glass fit flush. Front fuel tank is also finished as well as everything in the front trunk.
This week will be dedicated to finishing up the body and chassis, and getting every door gap and seam flawless. The roll bar and tube framing around the engine will be finished up by the weekend too. I need all this completed so I can prime it all this Saturday.
Later guys.

Beetle Update: First of all ... I'm beat. Another 40+ hour week on the bug and it's finally ready for some primer. All major scratchbuilding is finished. I just couldn't resist putting all the major components together and taking some photos, so here you go. First off here are a couple overalls.Just finished up the hinges on the engine cover. Here's a look of all the parts prior to paint. Check out the side scoops that were added yesterday. Have to feed air to the engine somehow. For additional photos, check out my Fotki site at public.fotki.com/gkulchock/all-my-modeling-rel/my-in-progress-mode/66-beetle-on-steroids/ Only 5 weeks to the NNL East. Later......

*** UPDATE ***Only 17 days left to get the bug together. The flames have been added and I'm just waiting to lay down some clear and watch it pop. The flames were shot with a fast thinner so I could just keep layering them and not have to worry about dry time. This produces a rather flat finish but just one shot of clear will make them sizzle. The flocking turned out well, and with the use of a little Photo-etch, can you guess what's lurking under that coverThe build-up on the chassis has started .......... and numerous other engine and interior parts have been painted or detailed.Check out my Fotki site for more photos.

A little over 14 days until we leave for the NNL East and I just laid down the clear. 5 or 6 days to cure, and I'll be ready to polish it out.Time to get the engine all built up and machine some wheels.
