It was a good 40 hour weekend on the bug, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I figure another 50 hours over the next 10 days should finish it off. So here is what's done. This weekend was dedicated to getting the engine built and installed, along with the electrical system, fuel system, and all the associated linkages.Motor installed, underside. Headers made from solder. Here's the 90% finished chassis befor installing the engine. And here is as far as I can get on the interior without installing it in the chassis. Should be installed tomorrow night. That's it for now. I'll start polishing out the body on Wednesday with hopes of mating it with the chassis this weekend. Later guys.

Well, only 7 days remaining until the NNL East. I stayed home and played today on the beetle. I got all the final painting finished.......... the chassis is all complete .......... the interior is as complete as I can get it without mounting the body .......and the engine cover and roll bar have been installed. This is one of the three wiper blades prior to painting. It's modified Detail Master photo-etch parts and is only about 5/16" long. It's all mounted to a jewelers screw. This will be my last update on the bug. The next photos you will see, will be of the completed car. I better get busy.

Are those exacto blades taped to popsicle sticks holding the parts for painting?

Are those exacto blades taped to popsicle sticks holding the parts for painting? They Sure Are! I call them "Toad Stickers" (Ask Nacho Z). Stick them into an area that won't be seen and spray paint away. You will also see tiny Radio Shack Micro Clips attached to bamboo. These work well also.

I noticed the roachclips, seen that before, but never exacto blades used like that.

I can vouch for the "toad stickers". I've learned a lot of things from Gary and the toad stickers are one of my favs. Gary was even nice enough to give me my first stash of used #11s. BTW Gary, the Beetle is looking GREAT!!! At this time one week from now you'll be wowing them at NNL East. Can't wait!
