Here is the current kit I'm working on. I've had it for quite a while and finally got started on it. IMHO it is one of the prettier paint schemes around. The decal sheet looks like it will do the real car justice. The instructions are laid out in 21 steps. There is a seperate decal placement sheet. There is one each, black, white, satin chrome and clear trees Here is the finishid drive train. This took up the first eight steps of the instructions. Unfortunately, when the bulkhead is added it will completely cover the front of the engine. Here is a pic of the tires and wheels. I love Tamiya's quality! The wheels are all "chrome" and the centers are hand painted. I'll post more pics as I go. Thanks for looking.

Great start John. Is the exhaust chrome or did you paint it?

Great start John. Is the exhaust chrome or did you paint it? Thanks Bobby. The "chrome" in this kit is more of a satin finish than chrome. The exhaust and turbo pieces are kit "chrome" pieces. Tamiya does a nice job with this. I think the satin finish looks better than the too shiny chrome.

Back on the bench . This is the chassis pan. Although it is only two colors the masking was kind of tough in the wheel well area. No flat surfaces there. I have started adding parts to the interior. The door panels have to be masked for two colors. Then I will be detail painting the dash next.

You are doing a great job with the paint detail. It is that attention to the small things that make a model look good.

Looks awesome so far John. This makes me wanna start one of my Tamiya kits but thye're so intimdating to me. Maybe I'll do my Calsonic Skyline first. BTW you oughtta display this in one of them "exploded" views that motor is too pretty to cover up.

WooHoo...........it's starting to look like a race car ;D AND all four wheels touch the ground (at the same time ). On a serious note, yea right, I have paid close attention to SpeedTV's coverage of races like the ALMS. I have absolutely, positively seen brand new race tires - slicks, with a small seam down the middle of them. I debated on sanding the model tires but decided to leave them after seeing the real thing. This probably falls in the same category as "do NASCAR decals get clear coated" but that is a topic for another day!

I have that kit and I have to agree it is ver well laid out and the decal sheet is one of the better looking Mobil1 paint shemes.
Excellent work on the engine and suspension detail...off the hook work.

Looking great John. Are those headlight bucket decals "standard" in the Porsche kit? I've got 4 of these kits but never built one.
