'69 GTX. It's Finished.

Ok, I got the plug wires attached and added the exhaust. The linkage on the throttle cable was next. Not to difficult. The pulleys are not glued down. I have to add the wired alternator and power steering pump.

More under the hood. I smoothed the fire wall by sanding away detail, filling areas with styrene and smoothing it all over with glazing putty. I made the new inner fenderwells with styrene. The radiator and electric fans came from the Dodge Magnum SRT8 kit.

Ok, now it's time for a little interior work. I cut off the original package tray and made another one of thinner styrene. It had to do with the new tubs and clearance. Then I added modified rear seats from the '57 Ford Fairlane custom. I show the unmodified seats for comparison. I decided to mold the package tray to fit the outline of the rear seats. so, what do you guys think?

It's coming slowly but surely. I'm back to the body and now it's time for the hinges. Afterwards I can finish the interior door panels and then get serious about the paint.

Now it's time for the fuel tank. Because this build has a pro stock chassis I had to fabricate a gas tank. I made it from styrene sheet and model glue. Pretty simple. I'll smooth it w/glazing putty and spray it with Dupli-Color chrome.

Alex,the fuel tank looks awesome.If you don't mind me asking how do you make the pieces that attach the door panels to the doors if the kit doesn't come with opening doors?Also what do you use to make them?Thanx.Jeremy

I basically use styrene rod that I drill out the centers of and metal rod. Pretty basic. Follow the attached link to my works in progress page. The trunk and door hinges are done just the same. the door hinges are just shorter. If you want the build to be more accurate like the GTX and have the door fronts open inside the front fenders, just reverse the hinge the opposite way from the way it's pictured on the link with the closed end or pivot end attached to the door and the open ends attached to the fender. The picture below shows how the hinges work. Make them just so. To make it more authentic reverse them as I said earlier. I hope this helps. PM me if you need ,more help.

No. It's a similar concept but its actually two separate hinges. Each has two pivot points. I'll get some pics and more instruction on them asap. I wanted to do something similar on the GTX but a lot of it depends on how the stucture of the body is laid out and the design of the GTX makes it difficult.

Boy am i late at looking at this build! (this whole wip section!) Great work, i have learned a lot from this build! I am new to the scratch building stuff, have built a lot of models, but just recently got the styrene stuff, i love it! Thanks for showing this build as you have, and for the help! Glad to do it and glad you like it. I'll be updating the WIP on the GTX soon on my site. So far I just have the suspension progress but more to come asap. Just follow the link I provided earlier.

After adding all of the modern touches to this build I felt that the stock chrome bumpers didn't fit the look I was going for. I thought about de-chroming them and smoothing them. I then decided to make some bumpers that are molded into the body like late model cars of today to give it a sleeker look.

I still need to fill in the gaps and smooth the rough edges but I think I 've acheived the look I was after.

Hey Alex, this is one of those models I have been watching but have not commented on, and I'm not sure why. It's really looking good. It's good to see all the mods because when it's done you won't notice all the work that has gone into it. Can't wait to see it when it's finished.

After adding the new bumpers I extended the trim moldings to give it a more complete look. I filled in all of the panel lines and then glazing putty was applied to smooth out the rough parts. I used primer to check for faults. All of thes modifications were added to give it a more modern look.
