This one is being built for the Atlanta NNL in November. Their theme is Merc, as in Mercury and Mercedes. It's just a curbside with a few body mods. I'm looking to lower it a bit, upgrade the wheels, and add a little more interior detail.
I need to relax a little after finishing up the bug.
The hood vents are taken from the Ferrari Super America that I picked up at Big Lots for 5 bucks a couple weeks ago.The front wheel wells were way to big for this model and also needed raised a bit to lower the front end. I also added a NASA vent to the center of the hood. The opening on the backside of the front fenders is only half opened on the lower side in the kit. I opened it fully by removing the upper plastic.

Got the front splitter built last night..030 flat sheet stock, drilled and pinned in place. This part will be covered with Scale Motorsports Carbon Fiber decals, clear-coated and polished to a high gloss.

Pretty sweet looking Benz. These Koenig cars are real real awsome. I have an old Ferrari Koenig. They got alot of style.

I'm still working on the ground effects. I've added some side sills that will also be covered in carbon and started in the rear area. This rear item will have a second layer of carbon built up as a wedge shape. Hard to explain but you can see the photos of it tomorrow if I get time tonight.

Here is the rear of the car and that second layer of carbon. It still needs a little tweeking, but you get the idea.

It's about time I did some additional work on my Mercedes 500K, so here you go.
I have always liked the look of the Porsche Speedster and the Callaway Corvette Speedster, so why not extend this style to my Mercedes.
I first scratch built the cover over the rear seat area, but decided it needed a little height and to lay in line with the angle of the trunk.Next the windshield was shaved down about 6 scale inches.Next, the stock Mercedes seats will be replaced with something a little more supporting, and the wall behind the seats will be fixed. Still working on the design for the roll bar.
Stay tuned.

Great eye for the details Garry. Ron Thanks Ron. I found some cheap nail polish over the weekend in Columbus, the same place where I found the nail polish green for my bug. I'll try to post some photos tonight.

Here is the color choice for the Mercedes. At just .99 cents a bottle, I couldn't go wrong.

Never used nail polish but what do you use for thinning that stuff??? Ron Ron: It's a little trial and error when trying to thin nail polish. I'll first try some CS-30 with this NK brand nail polish, because it's the same brand of nail polish I used when I painted my bug, and it worked well. What I do when trying to find a compatable thinner is to half fill a small bottle from my airbrush with thinner and drop a drop or 2 of the nail polish into the thinner to see how it reacts. If it cob-webs, don't use it.

Worked a little on the Koenig last night. I cut down the mounting area for the outside mirrors so I could use smaller mirrors, After cutting down the windshield this area looked way to big to me.I have hopes of having this body primed by the weekend.

Well I laid down the gold base coat about a week ago and shot the paint (nail polish) on the Mercedes today.I'll give her a few days to dry out before adding in a little black highlights.
