;D 4th Annual 24 Hour Build Well here it is, the official announcement of the 4th Annual 24 Hour Build.
Start: Noon, Saturday January 16, 2010 End: Noon, Sunday January 17, 2010
I'm already trying to decide on my build subject. This past build went so smooth. I hope the next one goes as well. I'm also up for suggestions on how to make the 4th Annual 24 Hour Build even better. How can we show those who never tried this just what they are missing out on? You in? ?

I'm in!! How to make it better?!?! MORE CHOCOLATE!! ;D More Chocolate??? I just now coming down from the sugar high from those things you brought that resembled Chocolate Chip Cookies. There was only enough cookie dough added to hold the chips together. I'm was thinking more on the lines of replacing the Hot Sausage Jalapenos and Scotch-a-Roos with a veggie tray and some fruit. ;D Yeah Right!

does it have to be in Jan. as better weather would be nice . One of the guys that was here at my house went home to 2 feet of snow in his drive way. and he lives over 1 hour away and one of the other guys lives 2-3 hours away So why January? Looking back 3 builds ago ..... Well, it just worked out best for everyone here. Nobody wanted to do it during the spring or summer months. There is just so much going on then, home maintenance, lawn work, vacations, model shows and who wants to be inside on a beautiful sunny day. For me there is also a spring and summer full of softball practice and weekend games. It's also Chips prime business time in the bike shop. What about fall? Well now we had Toledo and the Atlanta NNL as well as the holidays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas shopping followed by Christmas and New Years. So what goes on in January? Nothing to much besides it being prime model building time. Can't work outside and there are no model shows. So after winding down from the holidays, we figured it was time to get together and build something. It has snowed all 3 years for us too here but we were toasty warm inside. John lives the farthest away about 35 to 40 min., and if you see some of the photos out the glass door at my house, you can see I live on top of a small mountain. The first year it started snowing so much on Sunday morning that we moved all the cars to the bottom of the hill and I ran 4WD shuttle when everyone had to leave. And there you have it. Even with the cold and snow, it works out best the 3rd weekend in January. You could start a build up at another time during the year, and if I'm free, I'm in. I love these things. Later .... Gary

Plus Jan is always Barrett Jackson Auction time. Great stuff to watch while you build. Will had to travel an hour to get to my house but I'm sure if you ask him he will say it was well worth it.

Great...Now if I could find a group of guys here in Raleigh to get together, Ill be all set. Max: North Carolina must have a few modelers willing to subject themselves to 24 hours of sleep deprivation. How about it guys, anyone in the Raleigh area in for the best 24 hours they ever had modeling?

Yeah it really was an awesome time. I'd travel even further if I had to. Like I said it was probably the most fun I'd ever had modeling, and with building buddies like Bobby and Brian it really made it even more fun. I also agree with Gary that January is the easiest time for me to do this too. The only drawback was that I was a little sleepy when I watched the Steelers beat up on the Ravens on Sunday. So you can definitely count me in for the 24 hour build in 2010.

Gary, any idea if it comes with the skeletons? They alone might be worth getting the kit for. John

Hey Scott... you can bet I'll be ready for it ! The 2hour drive one way to your house wasn't so bad. Really. It's just the getting in the driveway with 2 feet of snow blocking my path! And this time I'll be sure than to get [glow=green,2,300]more than 1 hour of sleep [/glow]before trying to stay up for 30+ hours ;D!! That way I won't be such a cranky cuss at the end. Have you decided what you might build??

Not sure what I am building yet, but you can bet that it will have a body, interior, and simple chassis this year so I can actually finish one!!! I may even glue the hood shut if its an American kit. ;D

I'll most likely be stuck at home with nothing to do but watch the clock and reruns...if that's the case and I'm still kickin, sure,I'll join in. I'm thinking something simple...maybe a Polar Lights Herbie the Luv Bug kit?
