OK all you 24 hour build participants. Let's get some photo's posted. I'll start it out with my Rommel's Rod turned into, "Der Bavarian Hillbillies Truck". I was just going to build a weathered Rommel's Rod, 41 years later. A nice faded and rust job would have worked nicely. Ferrari Chip Wamsley had a better idea and I ran with it. I still need to add a lot of Bavarian junk in it, but you get the idea. This will make a nice companion for my Beverly Hillbillies Truck. The back of the Rommel's Rod was removed and replaced with the deck, bench and side-rails from the Beverly Hillbillies truck. Front wheels and white wall tires also replaced the stock Rommel units. The back of the passenger compartment was scratch-built using parts from the Hillbilly truck. Lots of superglue filler here. The barrels are from the Monogram beer wagon. The underneath was kept pretty simple but I did replace the rear end with the one from the Jo-han 1934 Mercedes 500K. The low detail Rommel's Rod engine was chucked. A more detailed Jo-han Mercedes 500K engine was used. I also lifted the Mercedes radiator cap from the same kit. The 1 piece rear tracks of the Rommel's rod was replaced with shortened more detailed units from the 1/35th Revell Marder 1 A3 kit. Thanks for looking. Now let's see yours.

Gary. Whats the date for 2011? Shinnston crew already has a theme for next year. We are building a car that raced in "24 Hrs of LeMans or 24 Hrs of Daytona". Got my kit picked out already.

That's great theme Bobby. That theme was how this whole build got started over 4 years ago. I can't speak for the other guys in the Morgantown crew, but I'll stick with that theme and build the same.
As far as the date, I would like to move the build to 2 weeks later, noon Saturday, Jan. 29th 2011 to noon Sunday, Jan 30th 2011.
My reason:, this will place the build during the Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona.
Let's have some input from the other guys building so we can set the date.

The ACME guys in Georgia build during the Rolex 24, its still in a slow time of the year and the weather should be the same. As for a race car that works for me as that's what I build; however, we might lose some folks

Everyone doesnt have to do the theme. We just decided to do that theme next year. Date sounds good to me.
