If everything goes ok here, I'd like to try this one. My first choice would be this bug, not allot of chrome to deal with, and without the flower power stuff! My second would be either snake or mongoose, if Gary decides to do one of them, I'll try the other. Hope I can make it this time!

I only have one show left before the 24 hour build, to find the Tony Nancy Loner. So far I've crapped-out. I'll let you know what I'm building next week.

Hi Guy I haven't been around much this year but at the last club meeting was asked if we are going to do the 24 hr. build this year. So I thought I better check in and see what the dates are and get going on an E-Mail to the guys and see how many are interested. Scott

You all know I can't leave well enough alone, so my Manx for the 24 hour build will be modified into the ......[glow=orange,2,300]"Queen Manx"[/glow]So what the heck is a Queen Manx you ask? If you ever saw the 1968 movie, "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Steve McQueen, you will see the modified Manx. Corvair powered, widened American Racing Wheels, Firestone's from Andy Granatelli's STP Special (#40) turbine car, modified wind screen (with chrome edging? Now how in the heck am I going to reproduce that?) and side bodywork. The new headlight buckets and that rack around the rear deck cover will be the bigest challenge. Oh did I mention the custom waffle stiched interior by none other than Tony Nancy and Datsun 240Z seat frames? How about front and rear tube bumpers. Check it out. Scan down this site for some good photos of the car. hunterdunebuggy.com/Send me your name, your photo hosting site album where you will be storing your photos during the build, what your building, and a photo of your kit. I'll get this information up on my Fotki site for all to see and know that signed in for the build. If you care to add in a little story like this on what you plan to build, that's even better. Let's do this! ;D

Build it out of the box, open it up and go! An old open kit that hasn't been touched, or a new one out of the cellophane wrapper. Not sure about snaps. Got 24 hours! I'm lookin forward to trying this one.

You can wash parts. May glue 4 parts to body. Have to paint the body (Brolin Rule). Start at noon and end at noon. No snap kits unless you really plan to modify it to the max. Send Gary your info so he can get it on his Fotki site.

Not sure what I'll build, or if I can even have time, but if my work slows down I plan to join in again this year. Work has been crazy lately, we're in a all hands on deck type of situation, and I've personally put in 62.5 hours in the last 5 days, and worked the last 9 nights straight. I'm supposed to have that weekend off, but we're supposed to continue on this busy format until February.

About a month away. Who is in? I may change my build but not sure. I'll have 4 for sure at my house with a poss 2 more coming. That leaves room for 2 more. If you have never done the 24hr Build you should give it a try.

I posted a link to this thread at Zbuckster's Model Cars. If any of the members there are interested they can come over and see what it's all about. There are many members that are active at both sites anyway. Like they say a high tide floats all boats. Hope you don't mind. I need to make up my mind what I am going to do and pick out a kit to do it to.

I finally made my mind up about what to build for the 24 hour build. No, I'm not cracking open my mint, sealed kit . I will use the re-popped kit. It is in pretty bad shape. Flash and sink marks on every stinking part. Not a lot of parts but a heck of a lot of work to make them presentable.

Lets go guys, only 2 weeks left before the build.Still confused on what the 24 hour build is? Let's try to clear that up.What we call a 24 hour build is just that. We start at noon on Saturday Jan 28th with an unstarted kit and build through noon on Sunday Jan 29th with the hopes of completing our chosen model. 24 straight hours, usually no rest, lots of coffee and sugar, and time well spent with our modeling buddies. Last year we had 5 of us at my house, this year 6. The Shinston WV crew usually has about 4 modelers there, We have a group in Michigan building as well as a couple groups in Canada. Individuals also join us from their own homes but I feel it's more fun as a pair or more at a single location. Ask you buddy to come over and build with you. It's a blast. So how do we all know how everyone is doing? Photo hosting websites such as Fotki and photobucket. It's easy. Just post "in-progress" photos and descriptions as you get time. Everyone else will have your photo hosting site address, so they can comment on your progress, ask questions, and even find out whats on the menu for dinner at your place. You see it's not so much about building the perfect model, it's about spending quality time with the guys you model with. I love just watching some of the techniques the other guys use during the build. So the rules: Yes we do have a couple rules. Rule #1 ..... 4 parts can be glued on the body ahead of time if needed, everything can be washed, and chrome can be stripped if needed. Rule #2 ..... The "Brolin" rule. Nacho Z, aka Mr. John Brolin decided to not paint his model the first 2 years if I'm not mistaken. We saw this as a big "No-No" and put into effect for year 3, that all model must be painted. We have enforced this rule ever since. Rule #3 ...... No more rules, just have fun. That's it, drop me a line here with your name, where your from, and send me a photo of what your building along with your photo-hosting site address. That's it. No tropheys either!Check out my official Fotki build site.public.fotki.com/gkulchock/6th-annual-24-hour-/

I have been thinking about this. Last year I was going to do it and then couldn't do it because of an untimely death in the family. This year I am thinking that I will be the only one here, sitting in the model shop, trying to stay awake for 24 hours and build a decent model. I do think I am going to do it. So I will go pick something from the stash.
What then? Do I host pictures at my Fotki site or to another site somewhere? I will post a picture of the kit in a couple hours. Need to go pick one out.
