OK, now for my next build. I had so much fun building my '69 GTX Custom, I thought I'd do it again. This time it's the Revell '71 GTX. It's 1/24 scale. I think it's an old Monogram retool. Not as detailed as the other kit but that doesn't matter as I do a lot of scratch building anyway. I havent decided on the engine yet. I may do something modern or maybe a Ross Gibson. I already opened the doors and hood. Next I'll be tubbing the chassis for larger profile wheels and tires. I already have somewhat of a paint scheme thought up but not sure what colors. Alex.

I'll keep you guys posted. Don't expect too much too soon. You know how I am. I just have to change, update or modify everything when I build something and it always takes me longer than expected.
Alex.

How are you going to attack the strengthening of the window post?

I got the wheels off of Ebay some time ago. I purchassed 3 different sets. One set, I used on my '69 GTX. I don't remember the seller. I think they came off of a diecast. As for strengthening the window post. Once I finish with the body mods that would put stress on them, I'll use thin metal rod and cement on the underside to bolster the post. I already broke both of them from the body.

Those that know my building style know that I like 'em low. In keeping with that style I am making mods to the chassis that reflect this. I'm adding a notch or hump to house the axle for the rear end as the rear wheels and tires are rather large. Once the bond is set I'll remove the old material from under the hump and brace it with styrene or metal rod. I also cut the old tubs out of the chassis and will be fabricating new larger ones. I think I will fabricate a 4 link suspension to finish the rear end off. Alex.

It's good to be back working on it. I'll be delayed a little on the rear end as I realized that I was missing some pieces to the puzzle. I should get some work done on it in the next day or so though.
Alex.

That is a very interesting concept. How much movement will this give the rear suspension? This will make for a very clean looking setup. Nice craftsmanship by the way.

Well Gary, from my mock ups and test fitting there seems to be a good amount of movement space at least for the lower links. The whole purpose for the channels. The upper links shouldn't be a problem as I can make the tunnels as tall as I need them. This car will have a very low profile as far as the ride height is concerned so I won't need that much play. My plan is to build it as functional as possible as if the set up would and could work on an actual 1:1 car. Alex.
