I had to rethink my suppossedly innovative "channels and "tunnels. While the idea was feasible the execution was flawed. My channels were not deep enough. I'm not sure how I managed to screw that up. After thinking about it for a little while I decided that much deeper channels minus the tunnels would do the job. Thus allowing all of the links more freedom of movement. the mounts for the fronts of the links will rest near the front of each channel. Please tell me what you think.

After deepening the channels I got back to the links and mounts. Everything seems to fit as I planned. The only thing to fabricate now is the coilovers. I can then pull it all apart and add some color. The question is what color? I also lengthened and deepened the tubs. Mock up of the build with the way they were didn't allow me to lower the rear enough.

This rear suspension is taking a lot longer than expected. I have quite a bit more to go. I'm trying a lot of things that I've never tried before and learning along the way. I realized that I didn't have mounts for coilovers so I added them to the rear of the 4 link mounts. The coilovers are made of two sizes of aluminum tube, small brass rod, black wire and small styrene disk. A modification of a technique that I've used before. The brass rod is there for the soon to come styrene shock ends to attach to. More to come soon.

Thanks Dana and stay tuned. I haven't been able to work on this build a lot lately but I'm taking a few days off in a week and a half and dedicating the whole time to working on this build. I have a lot of new things planned that I've never done before. By the way keep looking through the forum. You'll find that there are a lot of talented builders here at TMM. I'm just trying to keep up.

It's been a while since I posted any progress pics on this build. I finally got some color on the rear end and now I can start putting it back together again. I used a nail polish color. The pics take on a bluish color but it is definately a purple pearl. I'll get more pics up soon.

Now for a little more progress. I got the link mounts and bolts in and I test fit the assembly with the wheels and tires. The rotors are not mounted the're just hanging there. This is as much as I can do on the rear end until I finish building the front suspension and painting the chassis. After that I can attach the rear to the chassis. Now on to the front.

All purple. It's a twist on the stock Mopar paint jobs of the era with a few updates. I have some ideas on some stripes.

Sorry, no updates as of yet. I agree with you on the style of the body. I'll get more pics up as I go. Hopefully I can work on it tomorrow night.

Well, it's been awhile since I posted any progress on this build. Sorry for the delay. On to the front suspension. First I had to remove the stock spindles as I am making new steerable one. I added blocks on the top of the frame to allow for the repositioning of the front ride height. I smoothed the chassis behind the rear wheels on either side of the gas tank and in front of the link channels for a cleaner custom look. I also removed the molded in fuel and brake line engravings from the chassis.

I've basically done all of the main modifications to the chassis and suspension. I added color to the entire chassis. Now all I have to do is sand it down and clear it. I can then start putting all of the pieces together. I'll mask around the gas tank and spray it with Dupli-color chrome paint I guess. It has pretty good results and I don't have to use gloss black paint underneath like Allclad. I wish I had taken some pics of the chassis before any of the modifications to illustrate the amount of custom work done. The only mods on the first two pics are the tubs and the "notch" that I added in front of the gas tank for the new lower suspension. The remaining pics show the remaining modifications that include the smoothed areas on the chassis, the 4-link "channels" (which I am particularly proud of) and the modified front suspension.

Here the chassis is with some clear on it. No polish yet. I'll get to that eventually. But I will have to polish it before I start adding all of the components. I realized earlier today that I forgot to fill in the holes for the stock leaf springs in front of the tubs. Oops. Not a major worry though as I know I can figure out a way to cover them without a lot of work.
