thank you gary. Ive seen some of your work, so i have no doubt the mill under the hood will be above and beyond. I try to focus on keeping my suspensions as realistic as possible, and i was very pleased with the outcome of the toyota. I wish the front had a little more movement, but all things considered..IFS isnt really known for its long travel, so i guess that just makes it more realistic. by the way... that IFS straight kicked my *** . I had to use up the IFS from the truck and the pathfinder to make it work. luckily i plan on doing a straight axle conversion in the pathfinder so all is good mopar1

one more thing.. i know we've all put money into this, and im not trying to make it cost any more, but... here was the thought i had. when its complete we let the forum vote on thier fav pic, then we send it to all the builders to autograph. put it in a few shows to see if it can earn itself a few ribbons( honestly I think its gonna be a show stopper) then we auction it off with the autographed pic(possibly framed) for charity. let me know what you think mopar1

;D Started on my part of the build last night. Opened the hood and got rid of the extra parts protruding into the engine bay from the interior insert. Tonight I'll try to come up with some inner fenders and a firewall.
I'll try to post a couple photos tonight. ;D

My turn on the Toyota.First off, there is no engine in this kit. There are also no inner fenders or firewall, so I had to build this up first before starting on the engine. The hood was first removed and the guts from a Monogram S-10 and GMC Syclone were stuffed in. The space is going to be tight for the 350 Chevy so you guys who voted on the V6 may end up winning. If I do go with the V6, the GMC Syclone's turbo engine will be used. This engine still pumps out 280 bhp and 350 lb-ft of torque in it's stock configuration so that will do the trick. I'll determine this over the weekend and hopefully let everyone know Sunday night.

Nice work Gary.
The truck will make its rounds on show circuit for 1 year. Any awards it wins will go with it when auctioned off on E-bay. I will get in touch with the Model Car Museum about the proceeds going to them. I do believe we will have set a reserve on it.

Yo, Coopdad, received your package today with the cages and front bumper. Beautiful work. This is the first time all the parts done so far on this build have been together. I may have to do a mock-up and crank off some photos, just so everyone can see how it's coming. Sweet job John. I have exhalted you for your craftsmanship. Have I said how nice these parts look? Motor soon! ;D Gary

;D The V8 will fit! ;D I'll have to do away with the mechanical fan and mount an electric Detail Master fan to the front of the radiator. I may also open up the Toyota grill so it can be seen. I'll fit the headers tonight. That's the 350 out of the new '69 Nova kit by the way. (Thanks for the suggestion Will) It's 1/25th scale mounted in a 1/24th scale truck, but when I compared it with some other less detailed 1/24th scale 350's, it was the same size.

looks good... the T-case looks to be pushed back quite a ways, hopefully the shafts have enough play in them to compensate. cany wait to see some color and shine on that engine

Double Header last night and I didn't get in till after 10. maybe tonight on the headers. I'll compensate on your beautiful shafts if needed, no problem. The transfer case is really not back too far, as I had to slide the trans support forward about 1/4" to get the engine to sit right.

I'm back. April/May softball .... every night! The 350 fits but ..... the headers don't. I thought about just using the stock exhaust manifolds but that wouldn't be any fun and it wouldn't be in line with the modifications so far on this build. So what to do? Scratch-build! Detail Master supplied the flanges for the headers and the rest is Evergreen plastic. One side done, one to go.

Agreed, great! I am going to have to find those Detail Master flanges. Any thought to where you will run the rest of the exhaust? One suggestion would be to run it out of the side of the body between the door and rear fender opening. Helps keep it from being crushed when you bottom out. John

Headers look great Gary. How do you get those bends so perfect?
Truck will have to have an exhaust. This will be driven to and from the rock trails.

Headers look great Gary. How do you get those bends so perfect? ;D Just enough heat from a lighter works great to soften the plastic for easier bending. ;D Too long next to the flame and the heat will do the bending for you. This you don't want.

I'm not dead guys, I'm still here. I've just had tons of work trying to get ready for my daughters graduation party coming up next weekend.
Meeting tonight and I'm going to take the Toyota for all to see. Bobby will get a look at it also.
Later .....

All I can say is the Yota is looking awesome. Jason that is a killer suspension. John the rollcage and front bumper are pieces of work. Gary the engine bay and engine are sweet.
Hope my paint work will look good.

OK guys, I'm back! Anyone miss me? I didn't think so. Graduation party was a success! We missed you Nacho Z. I got all my work done I wanted to before the party, and I even got to work on the model a little last night. The second header should be finished tonight, then I'll get started on the collectors and the exhaust. My goal is to have my portion of the project finished by our next NCWVSM Meeting on June 9, 2 weeks from today, where I can hand the whole kit and caboodle over to master painter, your own Mad Modeler, Bobby Boggs. I'll try to get some in progress photos up tonight. Anyone interested in seeing graduation party photos, there on my Fotki site. Later guys!

;D I'm Exhausted! ;D (insert a little "rim-shot" here) Got up early this morning and finished up the assembly of the exhaust. Mufflers are from a Revell 97 Corvette. I still need to add in some header flanges and hangers. Now I'll start adding in some plug wiring and fiting valve covers. Onward!
